Luis Pato is one of the stars of winemaking in Portugal. A scientist and an artist, he crafts some of the country’s most beloved wines. Located in Bairrada, the family has been making wine since the 18th century and Luis is recognized as having done the lion’s share of the work to bring the once struggling region of Bairrada back to life. This wine is made predominantly from the indigenous Portuguese varieties, Baga and Touriga Nacional. Baga is structured with tannic grip and lots of dark fruit and chocolate on the palate. The addition of 40% Touriga Nacional softens the Baga while adding lifted fruit aromatics with Touriga’s signature Bergamot character.

This wine pairs perfectly with pork-based dishes, a staple of the Bairrada region.
